The gas/fuel tank is located between the driver and passenger in the center hump of the car, just behind the shifter lever. It has a capacity of 10.8 US gallons (41 liters). The empty point is around 2 gallons, and the warning light comes on with around 1.5 gallons remaining.
The fuel tank was designed in the center of the car for several reasons. First, the fuel level does not affect the car’s balance. Second, the fuel tank cannot be punctured in an accident unless the cabin is damaged past the point of serious passenger injury.
The fuel level sensor can be accessed and removed without removing the fuel tank from the car. However, the fuel tank must be removed to access the fuel pump.
