Hood Emblem
The first generation MR2s had a bird-like emblem on the front of the car. This is commonly referred to as the “screaming chicken” and is supposed to represent “aerodynamic beauty through evolution”!
Removing the Emblem
If you want to remove the hood emblem without damaging it, either to replace with a better one, or even the newer Toyota ‘texas hat’ style:
- To remove: Use fine fishing wire. Wind each end a couple of times around 1 finger on each hand and then work the line in behind the emblem by moving the line side to side as you pull down. This will separate the glue from the emblem. In addition to the glue, there are studs to ensure accurate positioning of the emblem – just go slow, and very careful as you pull up.
- To reattach: Use some 3M black trim adhesive, or similar.
