I am installing my console box 03/12/2006. I will be documenting this installation and putting it here. This is the basis for my work today.
first, you hav to feel up behind the firewall carpet for two studs sticking out. they should be about a foot above your center armrest thing. those are the stucs that the CSB (cd storage box) bracket bolts to. all mkII’s came with them, not just cars with the CSB from the factory. now you have to cut a hole in the firewall carpet so that you can get to the studs, don’t cut it any wider than you have to, if you do, you’ll be able to see it after you install the CSB. if you do it right, the CSB will cover up the whole completely. now, if you didn’t get a little metal bracket with your CSB, find one. it slides onto the studs and secures with nuts. that gives you holes to screw your CSB into. the screws that go into the bracket are really the only 2 bolts you need. cars that were equipped with the CSB from the factory have to screws going into the armrest, but they really aren’t necessary since the CSB won’t be supporting much weight and is planty sturdy with only those 2 bolts. if you must have all four, just screw the screws for the bottom holes inside the CSB into your armrest.
